Mediation and Parenting Plans

Having completed mediation training, I am equipped to utilize mediation techniques to facilitate effective dispute resolution. Following the decision by one or both parties to terminate the marriage, the first option is that the parties involved negotiate a settlement that is in the best interest of both parties and the minor children involved.

When facing a divorce and separation, parties experience a similar emotional process which is experienced during the grieving process after death.   The children’s positions in this process is also of prime importance.

The goals of mediation are to:

  • Reduce, resolve or manage conflicts;
  • Make appropriate decisions to deal effectively with this conflict;
  • Provide a plan (parenting plan) that serves the best interest of the child / children involved.
